Just can't see LA putting up any sort of fight. Welcome back to the playoffs!

Just curious on the math of elimating LA by winning tonight. It just means with any two points the Oilers clinch, but LA even with no points would still have a slim chance and the ability to get 91 points which neither the Blues or Flames have yet.

Maybe it was just easier to say they kept drafting forwards and ignore klefbom and nurse with first rounders.
And which defender would you have taken over hall ? nuge at the time ?
Larsson was really the only reasonable choice, but wouldn'tve done much to change those early fortunes. Plus, they did need a 1c.

Even Ryan Murray who we clearly shoulda taken was injured for the best part of 2-3 seasons.

That section read like a kings/outsider fan with zero idea what he's talking about trolling us over the last few years. Disappointing Matthew . Disappointing

Brossoit looks solid as eff. Less concerned about this than I was a week ago.

Maybe chias first one isn't fulfilling all his needs ..

For the record I wouldnt have drafted in the 1st round very differently if at all during the rebuild. It's the 2nd round and later plus the actions of the club with their NHL players that really killed the defense.

Quality retort and point taken.

Objection rescinded

I wanted Larsson and then Murray.
But yeah, we probably draft significantly different with every changed choice

Larsson
Galchenyuk?
Nichushkin?

That team ain't any better

When Friedman found out the Isles offered all of their draft picks to move from 4th to 2nd in the 2012 draft.

34th, 64th, 94th, 124th, 154th and 184th picks (all of which the isles used on defensemen ) for the Oilers to select Reilly instead of Yak? Fun to think about.

To be fair, the Isles barely got jack sh!t out of those picks. And knowing you guy's luck at the time, you would've taken Reinhart instead of Reilly, Lindholm, or Trouba.

having lindholm or trouba is a wonderful thought. but yeah, apparently we had a hard on for Reinhart and tried to acquire him before chiarelli did anyways.

If someone told me that for all that horribleness over those years we'd only end up with a #2/3 Larsson, 2c nuge, possible bust reinhart and a 3rd rounder idve laughed them off the thread

Without going too far off the board at 1, we could potentially have seguin, schiefle and lindholm instead right now

That said, no connor probably. Maybe no draisaitl either . So it worked out in the end

Hah yeah. Yak got you McD in a way. Hard to envision things working out better.

But the price to pay was a heavy one.

I really hate to say it at the expense of my Kings, but I for one am glad to see the Oil back in the hunt. Exciting team to watch and its been a long time coming. Best of luck the rest of the way.

Yeah, I did. I appear to have been mistaken. They could mathematically make it happen in the same way I mathematically have a shot at marrying Scarlet Johanssen

a month ago i was all about staying in the top 3 in the division and avoiding the sharks in a wildcard matchup. but at this point with the way all 3 teams in the pacific are playing and the way things have shifted,
(ducks are on fire and look great. cgy looks hella good and the sharks are struggling but we know are still a beast should they get going again)
it doesnt really matter who we play. theyre all gonna be extremely tough

as long as we dont drop all the way to 8th and face the hawks!!!
